One of the original and best known of all reflectors, the SuperNova has been around for well over a decade (it's not far off being retro) and continues to be amongst the bestselling reflectors in the grow lighting market today. Nearly every grow lighting manufacturer produces a reflector based on the original shape and design of the Supernova, which goes to show how durable and effective the design of this reflector has become.
It is still one of the best reflectors for putting large amounts of light onto plants positioned directly beneath the reflector. With good environmental control and correct spacing between lamps this reflector still matches a lot of much newer, and more expensive reflectors that have followed in its design footsteps.
It's not the best option for grow tents, there are much better options when side reflection is abundant, but if you want to hammer some serious lumens into the plants right below the reflector in search of big yields, then this is still a go to reflector.
It's obviously also a good option then for when you have a plant, or a few plants, in the middle of a larger room with no near side reflection, as most of the light ends up going straight down on the plants.
