The DigiDrive from Maxigrow is a decent quality digital ballast that features a 4-way dimmer switch to give you complete control over the power output to your plants.

The ballast will power 250W, 400W or 600W HPS or Metal Halide bulbs and includes a boost mode that increases output to 660W which is really beneficial during the flowering/fruiting phase.  Be sure to pair the correct lamp to the output selected, so don’t be tempted to run a 400W lamp at 250W for example.  This will save energy, but is a pretty pointless exercise as your plants will not receive the full PAR (usable light) range.

As with other digital ballasts, the DigiDrive will extend the life of your lamps by protecting the bulb from power surges and eliminating flicker.  It also includes RF shielding so will not interfere with other electrical equipment in your home.

The DigiDrive 600w ballast comes with a 1 year guarantee.

600w Digital Ballast - DigiDrive FAQ's:

Is it safe to use the power boost on my 600W lamp?

The short answer is yes. Both Sunmaster HPS & Metal Halide grow lamps are designed to be able to cope with small surges in power output beyond what they claim. However, running your 600W lamp at 660W with the power boost option on this ballast will reduce its lifespan.

Will running my lamp on power boost mode produce better yields?

It depends. If you are optimising your grow room and looking to run the most productive system possible, then adding 10% more power into the lamp will probably help yields. If you just have a few plants under lights that you chuck some water on once a day or so, then you probably won't notice any difference.

Can I use this ballast with any reflector?

The DigiDrive comes with an IEC connection which is the standard fitting for practically all reflectors on the market.

Is it really silent running?

Yes. Most digital ballasts are designed to run silently and the DigiDrive digital ballast is no exception to that rule.

Will I save money using a digital ballast instead of an analog one?

Yes, but only a very small amount. Digital ballast put out less heat than their analog counterparts and are slightly more efficient, but the emphasis here is on "slightly". Don’t expect to see any dramatic change in your running costs, but overall, digital ballasts are marginally cheaper to run.
