We carry two brands of 5 inch carbon filters at Green’s; the budget friendly Prima Klima filters and the high performing Rhino Pro filters. Both do a great job at trapping and neutralising those unwanted odours in your grow room.
Rhino Pro Filter
Rhino Pro filters are the premium filters to use for horticultural purposes. In our opinion, these filters are by far the market leaders. Built with high-performance in mind, Rhino Pro filters are constructed from lightweight aluminium and use extremely high quality carbon.
The activated carbon used is Australian-mined Tiwest RC124 which is the purest activated carbon available in the world. It is super effective at odour control, will provide excellent filtration for at least two years, and works well in both high and low humidity environments.
The 5 inch carbon filter from Rhino Pro is suitable for use with both low-power and high-power fans. It is highly important to match your fans with the right carbon filter as a mismatch will make for less effective odour control and will reduce the lifespan of your ventilation equipment.

Length (excluding flange): 300mm (12 inches)
Air Volume: 500 m3/hr
Prima Klima Filter
German manufacturer Prima Klima makes a great range of affordable yet effective carbon filters. This budget 5 inch carbon filter is suitable for use with low powered fans only. Although called a ‘budget’ filter, it is still made to Prima Klima’s high standards; using high-grade activated carbon derived from pit coal.
Apart from a marginal difference in odour control, the main difference between these budget filters and the Rhino Pro filters is lifespan. Prima Klima filters should be replaced every nine to twelve months whereas a Rhino Pro will easily last for two years or longer before it needs to be replaced.
Size: 125mm (5 inch)
Length (excluding flange): 400mm (16 inches)
Airflow: 360 m3/hr
Both the Prima Klima and Rhino Pro filters work great for eliminating unwanted odours in your grow room. It really comes down to your budget when deciding which one to go for. If you can afford the Rhino Pro filters, then we recommend spending the extra because you’ll get an unrivalled carbon filter that’s built to withstand at least two years of use.
Carbon filters work by utilising the features of activated carbon. This type of carbon has been oxidised which gives it a massive surface and super adsorbent properties.
To give you an idea of just how effective active carbon is; a single gram of the stuff has a surface area larger than 500 metres squared. Five grams will give you roughly the same surface area as a football pitch.
The massive surface area of activated carbon ensures that any unwanted odours flowing through your carbon filter will be effectively trapped and neutralised. How do I set-up this carbon filter?
